I am reviewing the thriller Private Vegas by James Patterson et al which is a very good book that I bought from kindle. This is part of the Private series about a detective agency with huge resources beyond even what the police that has branches all around the world and takes on cases for the wealthy and famous. Each of these installments takes place in a different city. In the case of this one it is Las Vegas and retains some of the same characters who were in Private Los Angeles. There is a lot of class and glamor in these novels. Normally in any Patterson thriller there is more than one case to solve. In this novel there are rogue diplomats going on an excursion to Vegas to commit murder and rape and then claiming diplomatic immunity. There is also a husband who claims he stabbed his wife in self defence. Problem there is she was stabbed excessively but he is trying to take the fall for someone else and wasn’t even there at the time. There is also a lady trying to murder her husband and having an affair with someone else. When they warn the husband he doesn’t accept what they are saying and gets aggressive. Getting back to the diplomats they try to claim they are being victimized when they try to send them back to the tiny state they come from. They eventually do end up being murdered themselves. This book is around 300 pages so is a good length. I did enjoy it and do recommend it. I think though it is probably one of the weaker installments in the Private series.
